Is fondant good to eat?

Fondant is an edible icing made of 100% edible ingredient. Although the icing is edible, you might see people take the fondant off cakes when they are eating cake because people tend to not like the texture or flavor of fondant. – Bobsredmill

What is the difference between normal cake and fondant cake?

A fondant cake is sweeter as compared to a cream cake. Cream cakes look fluffy and soft whereas fondant cakes look silky and slightly rigid. Cream icing is made using butter, sugar, and cream, whereas fondant icing is made using gelatine, glucose, and sugar. – Flower Aura

Why is fondant cake so expensive?

Fondant is usually elegantly smooth and is also very versatile for textured designs. There are countless tools to roll pretty patterns onto the surface of this sugar dough. This can cost considerable money for a beginner because fondant is quite expensive to make from scratch or purchase pre-made. – TheSpruceEats
