Naan is a traditional oven-baked flatbread in India. In English, Naan means “flat leavened bread”. Take note that this recipe doesn’t need active yeast as yogurt also contains active culture in it.
Without further ado, let’s start baking!
Steps:
- In a bowl, place in all-purpose flour, baking soda, ½ c of yogurt. (extra water and flour in case needed) Mix with a spatula, then uses hands to incorporate all ingredients together.
- Add more yogurt, the dough needs more yogurt for it to be slightly sticky.
3. Continue to mix using hands, then form dough into a ball.
4. Cover. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
5. Remove the cover. Divide them into equal parts. This dough makes about 6 parts. Using a rolling pin, flatten each piece of dough. The dough doesn’t have to be a perfect circle.
6. Continue to roll the rest of the dough. See the thickness.
7. Finish rolling the dough. Dust the surface with flour so it will not stick.
8. Sprinkle flour in between the flattened dough.
9. Heat a non-stick pan. Drizzle with oil.
10. When hot, place one piece of naan dough.
11. Check the dough for bubbles. When it appears, it is time to flip over.
12. There will be nice bubbling brown blisters indicating that it’s cooked.
13. Transfer each naan into a plate.
14. Pile them up and serve. Great job! Now you can enjoy your delicious Naan!

- 1/2 cup Yogurt
- Water
- Cooking oil
- Flour (for sprinkling the surface)
